Chinese New Year

University Park Camellias

Weekend moments........

The seeds in brown paper packets that we bought at the community garden ‘Seedy Saturday’ event in the Methodist hall in a small town on the edge of Dartmoor.....and the local choir singing jolly songs about compost while my husband chose beans and peas and onion sets from the trestle tables laid out round the room......

The wonderful family pantomime we watched in the tiny welcoming village hall of a small town in Somerset with bells and whistles and wigs and lipstick and Oh no he isn’t and oh yes he is......

Remembering our wedding reception in another village hall in the middle of the Berkshire countryside all those years ago....

Reading in bed for a whole hour before I got up....

The big smile, the big hug of my niece’s boyfriend.....

The delicate ginger and spice flavour of a plaice fillet, studded with prawns, wrapped up in a ridgey banana leaf, cooked for us by a dear friend, who knows about all things culinary, to mark the abundance of Chinese New Year.....

The huge bunch of pink camellias cut from her garden this afternoon that she gave me to take home....

Driving through rain, the windscreen wipers squeaking on the glass, wondering if my grumbling, rumbling low grade crossness is like an acquired illness, or just a habit..... and when did it become chronic....
