2 kilos of blackcurrants makes 9 jars of jam...which took forever to set this time....maybe you shouldn't make jam on a boiling hot afternoon on August.....

Marigolds and buddleia next to bowl of blackcurrant puree - it took forever to push the seedy mush of berries through the sieve...but now I have a pool of sweet sharp sauce to swirl into a parfait tomorrow.
My blackcurrant day.... cooking is such a relief after the stress of writing to the Dept of Work and Pensions who want copies all our bank statements and saving accounts details to review the Employment and Support Allowance that my husband receives. Nothing to hide.... but it still feels like an invasion of our privacy....I feel hounded, ashamed.....as if we've done something wrong.
It's called support but it feels like dependence...sticky as jam....
